About Us

The Friends of Kowak foundation was established by several former volunteers that served in the village of Kowak over the past 15 years. The intention is to continue the work done by Maryknoll Fr. James Conard who has been serving the community of Kowak for over 40 years. The foundation assists in education, health care, and community development. The foundation was established in 2019.

Our Vision

Education, including school scholarships and support for schools:  We envision a community where, one student at a time, even the most disadvantaged and especially girls, have the opportunity to receive a good education.

Health care and improved health conditions:  We envision a community where even the most vulnerable individuals can receive quality medical care when needed, and the community can sustainably support basic health needs such as adequate nutrition, clean drinking water and safe housing.

Community and Religious:  We envision a faith community of the Catholic Church through the local diocese and parishes in the Rorya District that addresses the spiritual and physical needs of the community while recognizing that all human beings are created in the image and likeness of God.
