Friends of Kowak

 Who Are We?

We are a group of volunteers who formed a non-profit for helping the poor in Kowak, a small village in north central Tanzania. Our mission is to share hope with the people and communities of East Africa by supporting quality education and health care. Our efforts are focused on health, education, water quality, and the Catholic Parish in and around Kowak village, which was the site of a Catholic Mission operated by American priests and sisters from 1946 until recently. Those missioners built churches, a girls’ high school, a regional hospital and a community grain mill which all have been turned over to local control.
